sharks & rays
sharks and rays are among the most threatened marine species. They are especially susceptible to anthropogenic threats due to their life-history characteristics that include late maturity, long gestation periods, and low fecundity
overfishing poses the largest threat to sharks and rays. it is estimated that around 100 million sharks are killed every year.
habitat developments, climate change, and plastic pollution pose additional threats on these charismatic specie
From the over 1,100 species of sharks and rays, about 40% are classified as data-deficient
scientific knowledge and monotoring is thus urgently needed
We take action by combining diving, science and education in order to collect scientific data, and raise awareness about sharks and rays
